This Wastrel Is the God King: The Useless Son Nobody Bothered to Watch
A stepmother murders her husband's first wife and never answers for it. The son she leaves behind grows up carrying two kinds of magic he shows nobody, and he lets the whole kingdom decide he is worthless. This Wastrel Is the God King follows Kael across 45 episodes as he waits for the right moment to stop pretending.
A murder the Nordic Kingdom let stand
Kael's stepmother killed his mother, and nothing came of it. The murder goes unanswered in the Nordic Kingdom while the woman who did it keeps her place, and her stepson grows up in the same court she poisoned. It is the load-bearing wound in most revenge short dramas, and this one does not rush to close it.
Why Kael lets everyone underestimate him
Kael awakens ice magic and fire magic, and then hides both behind a reputation for uselessness. The court calls him weak, and he does nothing that might change its mind. The whole plan depends on that act holding. Heroes who lie about their own strength are standard equipment in fantasy short dramas, and Kael commits to the lie harder than most.
What the competition sets in motion
Princess Elena holds a magical competition, and Kael enters it and wins. Invading forces follow, and he deals with those as well. He marries Elena and lands inside the court that spent years calling him worthless, and only then does the murder he has been carrying since childhood come due. It is the shape a lot of short drama series reach for, with the public victories stacked in front of the private one.
