Joyce lives apart from her husband Nathan. She moves with her child to base housing and finds Nathan is close to neighbor Savannah. At a military fair, to spare Savannah’s son’s feelings, Nathan publicly denies he is Florie’s father and lets people insult their daughter. Florie falls ill from distress.
