Disgraced apothecary Ivy poisons underworld queen Victoria, believing she killed her sister. Victoria lets Ivy close, testing her. Ivy sees loneliness beneath cruelty. During a rebellion, Ivy learns her sister framed Victoria. She abandons revenge, gathers evidence, defeats the conspirators, and takes the crimson whip as queen.
